Sasha Sykes' sleek and contemporary cocktail bookends – exclusive to The Garnered – are inspired by the 1980s-styled bar at the artist's Dublin studio and mark a new chapter in Sykes' work. These handmade resin bookends reflect her now city lifestyle. Each one is a design object in its own right, also wonderful as a mixed pair.
The new work has been inspired by Sasha’s recent move to the city, relocating from a farm in rural Ireland to Dublin. “I wanted to celebrate the sociability and connectivity of being in the city, so I created a speakeasy as part of my new studio,” says Sasha. “It started off as a bit of craic, to have this little space that fits around 6-8 people, where people could come and have a drink and chat. We know each other in the design community, but you don’t often get to just come together and talk.”
