Working from her Cotswolds studio, textile artist Ellen Mae Williams uses sustainable and traditional textile methods to create her naturally hand-dyed and hand-painted linen fabrics. She uses avocado and onion skins, madder root and logwood for her dyes – with the composition of natural dyes there can be some colour variation adding to the uniqueness of each item. Her designs are inspired by the sky changing from sunrise to sunset.
Measures 50 x 50cm; duck feather cushion insert included.

About Ellen Mae Williams
Nature informs much of what textiles maker, designer and artist, Ellen Williams creates, specifically, the Oxfordshire landscape in which she grew up. Abstract artists including Gerhard Richter and Mark Rothko also inspire her work. A BA in textiles prompted an exploration of natural dyeing and colours that she could whip up in her kitchen. Ellen discovered that avocado skins and stones produced a beautiful muted pink shade and experimented with kitchen waste such as onion skins and coffee granules.
