Ellen Mae Williams is a textile designer and artist using sustainable and traditional textile methods to create her naturally hand-dyed and hand-painted 100% linen fabrics. Her aesthetic forms a dialogue with the natural landscape, her inspiration coming from the changing seasons of the English countryside and the skies above it from dawn to dusk. Each unique piece would make a dramatic statement as a tablecloth or throw.
Measures approximately 190 x 153cm.
Machine wash on a cold, gentle cycle to preserve colours.
Keep out of direct sunlight to prevent fading.
Nature informs much of what textiles maker, designer and artist, Ellen Williams creates, specifically, the Oxfordshire landscape in which she grew up. Abstract artists including Gerhard Richter and Mark Rothko also inspire her work. A BA in textiles prompted an exploration of natural dyeing and colours that she could whip up in her kitchen. Ellen discovered that avocado skins and stones produced a beautiful muted pink shade and experimented with kitchen waste such as onion skins and coffee granules.
