Treasures of Gold and Silver Wire
We're so delighted that this exhibition – which includes pieces by jeweller Jean Scott-Moncrieff whose pieces we are proud to feature on The Garnered – has been extended due to popular demand. The exhibition space – Guildhall Art Gallery in London – is filled with a treasure trove of beautiful items made from gold and silver wire – from centuries-old robes to contemporary jewellery such as Jean's.
Amongst this dazzling array of items – royal, military, ecclesiastical and theatrical uniforms and costumes alongside fine examples of modern jewellery, silversmithing and embroidery – are some particular highlights, which include garments worn by Queen Elizabeth I and Queen Elizabeth II, Charles Dickens's court suit, a costume worn by David Tennant as Richard II and a gorgeous rose pink tutu that Darcey Bussell wore for her performance in Sylvia. Also featuring is work from the students of The Royal School of Needlework and Glasgow School of Art.
This exhibition will now run until 31 December 2023.
