London metal artist Ane Christensen is known for modern and highly collectible pieces. This large brass Crumbling Bowl is part of a limited edition series for The Garnered and is a mesmerising object that softly tilts to reflect the maker's interest in shifting balance - contrasting solidity and transparency. It is constructed from a spun hemisphere with drilled holes, which is then sand blasted, patinated and waxed. Finally, the edge is burnished to allow the metal colour to shine through.
"I come from the Scandinavian school of thought, - where form follows function. I am not a natural provocateur but changing the scale of my work liberated me and made me excited about the sculptural element of my practice."
