Nancy Nicholson weaves exquisite textiles in her Devon studio, using heritage wool from rare-breed sheep. She developed the Hilda pattern to showcase the qualities of the soft and strong Cumbrian Rough Fell yarn that she has developed, with a rolling texture of looped woollen pile. The result is a rug that hints of the patterns found in her Cumbrian childhood – footprints in snow, scattered corn – but is a restrained and sophisticated statement, lending a calm elegance to any room.
