Arielle de Gasquet lives and works in Paris but is influenced by the Japanese ceramic tradition. Her hand-thrown pieces beautifully balance form and function – their shapes enhanced by earthy, mineral glazes. These beakers are stunning design objects in their own right, but they are meant to be used and loved. Being handmade, each piece is unique.
It was while living in New York a decade ago that Parisian, Arielle de Gasquet fell into ceramics – “you could say that ceramics found me”. Looking to make a vase for her ikebana course she was introduced to a ceramics studio filled with members of the Japanese community – “they kindly said I must have been a ceramicist in another life”.
