Open Studios at London’s Cockpit Arts
We’re huge fans of Cockpit Arts, which houses and supports a great array of artists and makers in its two London studios. Its innovative social enterprise model offers business advice, mentorship, apprenticeship programmes and, most importantly, affordable studio space, both to those at the beginning of their artistic journey and those with more established careers. Twice a year the studios in Holborn and Deptford open their doors to the public and offer workshops, demonstrations, talks and the chance to see and buy the work of their makers. Their forthcoming event includes a secret postcard sale, as well as various drop-in events (including a silk flower workshop at Holborn where you can make your own headpiece, perfect for a summer festival), and bookable workshops (such as 1-2-1 weaving tuition or paper marbling, both at the Deptford studios). A fantastic midsummer celebration of craftspeople and their creations.
