1882 Ltd. is a family-run business based in Stoke-on-Trent that champions innovative ceramic designers. Named as "Designer of the Future" at Design Basel/Miami in 2008, Max Lamb enjoys experimenting with concepts of form and texture. His bone china tableware is cast from moulds carved by hand using traditional stone-mason tools. The organic shapes and unglazed exteriors of his salt and pepper shakers make them irresistibly tactile and bring an intriguing design statement to any table.

Formed in 2011 by Emily Johnson with her father Christopher, the design-led ceramics brand 1882 Ltd takes its name from the year that four of their ancestors (Alfred, Frederick, Henry and Robert) formed the pottery firm Johnson Brothers in Stoke-on-Trent.
