Textile designer Ellen Mae Williams uses sustainable and traditional textile methods to create her hand-dyed and hand-painted 100% linen fabrics. Due to the composition of natural dyes – made of such ingredients as onion skins, madder root and logwood –there can be some colour differences which adds to the unique nature of each item. Natural dying and mark making result in a haphazard beauty that reflects the natural landscape.
Measures 50 x 50cm; duck feather cushion insert included.

About Ellen Mae Williams
Nature informs much of what textiles maker, designer and artist, Ellen Williams creates, specifically, the Oxfordshire landscape in which she grew up. Abstract artists including Gerhard Richter and Mark Rothko also inspire her work. A BA in textiles prompted an exploration of natural dyeing and colours that she could whip up in her kitchen. Ellen discovered that avocado skins and stones produced a beautiful muted pink shade and experimented with kitchen waste such as onion skins and coffee granules.
