Maria Sigma, an award-winning textile designer based in London, uses the ancient craft of weaving to create sustainable contemporary textiles for the home. She uses natural fibres, often undyed, to create ‘zero waste’ pieces, celebrating the slow making process which results in unique items, rich with texture and character, that are designed to last. This luxurious woollen throw is part of her new collection, 'Apricity' ('warmth of the winter sun'), which showcases her bespoke weaving patterns.
“It’s important to me to use undyed wool, because it means less waste. The dyeing process takes a lot of water and electricity, and undyed fabrics are much less toxic and more sustainable. My products are for the home, and I like the fact that they’re both functional and natural.”
